Anubis. The point of no return.
From the “Mystical Animals” series.

“Regarding the Mystical Beasts series, I have always felt a special power in animals.
It is probably no coincidence that zoomorphism plays such an important role in all religions, myths and legends of antiquity: the god Ptah in the form of a bull in Egypt; the god Zeus, as if appearing to people in the form of a bull, a swan or an eagle; the god Pan with the legs and horns of a goat among the ancient Greeks; the Phoenician goddess Ashtart in the form of a cow; the Hindu god Ganuman in the form of a monkey, etc.
Each of us, when we spend time with an animal, can feel the energy emanating from them and feel an inexplicable connection. Why did I choose these animals? I believe they reflect a certain duality in humans. Often, a person's outward behavior does not correspond to who they really are. For example, the winged reindeer Periton in Borges's "Book of Fictional Creatures" seems to be just a reindeer, but if you look at his shadow, it turns out to be human, because the souls of dead travelers move in the Periton body. Sometimes dogs seem to see something more than just your body shell. A soul, perhaps? It was not for nothing that Anubis cared for both the body and the soul of the deceased, and only he could, through the imposition of hands and magic, transform a dead person into an enlightened and blessed being . There are probably some absolutely good and holy people and some absolutely evil people, but as a general rule, good and evil can exist in each of us. Thus, in Avestanic myths (Zoraastrianism, ancient Persia), the camel Veretragn embodies the confrontation of two antonymous heroes – himself, as the personification of good, with his adversary, the personification of evil, in a “symmetrical” incarnation .
