The series “The heavens above on the heavens below” is a profound reflection on the oyster, inspired by a line from Francis Ponge’s poem in “The bias of things”. The first series of 12 paintings, dating from 2016, features delicately painted oysters on a white background, creating an atmosphere of purity and introspection. These works captivate with their finesse, expressing a poetic contemplation of the nature and essence of the oyster, which, for the artist as a shell, evokes the birth of Aphrodite, thus transforming these small still lifes into a tribute to art.
