The “Bodies and Souls” sculpture series papier-mâché embodies feminine confidence and excess, transcending cultural boundaries. Masks question our beliefs and open up a deep reflection on life, death and our common existence.
“The Healer”, a sculpture fusing the grace of the Luba mask and the artistic representation of a female figure, evokes the feminine archetype of healing practices. Her face, decorated with symbolic lines of purity and goodness, emerges with a harmonious roundness. The generous silhouette highlights infinite arms and callipyge buttocks, symbolizing fertility. These suggestive curves add a sensual dimension, reinforcing the link with the beneficial powers of the mask by embodying feminine power and the connection with protective spirits during healing rituals, conferring the strength necessary to accomplish life-saving missions.
