ingrid KAUFMANN (AR-CH) 1972

Ingrid Kaufmann is a bicultural artist, born in Argentina and now based in Geneva, Switzerland. She graduated from the Prilidiano Pueyrredón National School of Fine Arts and the Santa Ana Institute in Buenos Aires. Her solo exhibitions have been presented in prestigious venues such as the Geneva Center for Contemporary Applied Arts, the Gallery of the Argentine Consulate in New York, the City Loft Art Gallery in Miami, the Centro Cultural Borges in Buenos Aires, and the Anna Roza Gallery in Oslo.

From the beginning of her career, Kaufmann has cultivated a philosophical connection with nature. She first explored this theme through marine and shell paintings, and since 2017, through a renewed interest in trees. In recent years, she has devoted herself to promoting Switzerland's tree heritage, particularly in her home canton of Geneva.

Her artistic approach is rooted in the principles of sustainable development and pays homage to trees—living structures that represent both a vital resource for the planet and an essential element for human survival. While not presenting herself as a model for reducing carbon footprints, she invites the public to participate in raising awareness through projects that combine art, science, and education. For Kaufmann, the great challenge is to reconcile comfort, consumption, economic growth, and the rights of nature, within the broader framework of Earth jurisprudence. This tension, which she sees as a threat to the world's forests, is expressed in her works, where nature is depicted using gold and silver leaf, as well as petroleum derivatives, to create textured and reflective representations of natural forms.
