chloé PEYTERMANN (FR) 1982

Chloé Peytermann is a Franco-Swiss artist born in 1982. She specialised in ceramics, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Design from HEAD in Geneva, before becoming a research assistant at CERCCO, working alongside Magdalena Gerber, Philippe Barde, and Christian Gonzenbach. At the same time, she developed a keen interest in theatre and literature.

Her sculptural work is represented, among others, by the Musée Ariana in Geneva as well as by numerous galleries in Europe and the United States.

We have had the privilege of collaborating with Chloé Peytermann since the gallery’s inaugural exhibition in 2010, and her work continues to move us. Her creative periods follow an inherent logic: from decorative pieces to textured works, landscape-inspired furniture, and figurative characters, her entire oeuvre reflects her deep connection with the natural world. For example, after a journey to Pakistan, she tinted certain pieces with a blue so deep that their beauty is heightened by an unfamiliar, almost exotic quality.

A prolific artist, she constantly explores the possibilities of her materials. Sometimes, an accidental discovery leads her down a new path, as in her “bubble” period. She is an artist who truly listens to her sociocultural surroundings, infusing each creation with her inspirations.

After leaving Geneva, Chloé Peytermann settled in Dieulefit, in the Drôme region of France, where she lives and works. Her studio, a magical place, is open to visitors.
